The City of Plano and DFW International Community Alliance present
Fiesta Latinoamericana!Latin American Fiesta!

PLANO: DFW International Community Alliance presents the first annual Fiesta Latinoamericana!, Latin American Festival, on Saturday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m., St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 5801 W. Plano Parkway (just east of the Tollway), in Plano. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance from the DFW International website at www.dfwinternational.org/festival/Fiesta.

Participating in the cultural celebration are 18 actors, five folkloric dance groups, and seven bands / choruses. This event marks the FIRST TIME the city of Plano has sponsored a Hispanic cultural festival and first time FIVE Latino cultures have shared the stage in North Texas.

The Fiesta Latinoamericana! presents Latin American dance, poetry, and live music -- food for the soul with a Latin American flavor. Through dance, drums, live music, and theater, Fiesta Latinoamericana! presents the powerful voices of poets:
        Federico Garcia Lorca (Spain)
        Nobelist Pablo Neruda (Chile)
        Gaucho Martin Fierro (Argentina)
        Indian King Nezahualcoyotl (Mexico), and
        Afro-Latino Nicolas Guillen (Cuba).

Garciela Katzer, Dallas/Fort Worth Central Argentine Board of Directors and President of the Plano International Festival, says "Fiesta Latinoamericana! links us with all North Texans rooted in Latin American culture, by sharing the dance, poetry, music, and many flavors of our cultures. Through our Spanish heritage as well as the traditions of Chile, Argentina, indigenous Latinos, and Afro Latinos, we're excited to present the culture and spirit of the Latin American people. I am proud to be an Argentine representative serving on the DFW International Board of Directors. Please join us and enjoy Plano's first Latin American Fiesta!"

The event is part of DFW International Month, March 6 thru April 8, featuring more than twenty activities highlighting global cultures across North Texas.  Call 972-661-2764 or visit www.dfwinternational.org for more information.
