Dear media friends:
It seems that the phone call we received regarding the urgent need for translators for a plane of Haitian orphans landing today may have been sent by an inexperienced intern. We apologize for any confusion her email (forwarded to you) may have caused and shall keep you informed if we hear further details. We do have a team of translators ready to help, should they be needed. We also can offer the media several new local Haitian contacts, including a physician and a businessman, should you wish some fresh voices about the situation.
WFAA has just shared this update with us, and we than them for the info:
"Pat Simmons, Regional Chief Operating Officer of the Chisholm Trail Red Cross Chapter in FW, says she is not aware of any flight coming in at this point. She says they have been apprised of "a potential" for humanitarian flights with Haitian children possibly coming into sites in Texas such as Fort Worth or Houston. But she says nothing has been solidified at this point. She says, if it does happen, the FW chapter of the Red Cross is available to assist. She says it may happen three days from or it may never happen. They are now aware of any flights coming in at this point, but they are in full standby mode, if needed.
JRB PAO also confirms nothing imminent. "
DFW International continues fundraising among the international communities, and we have agreed to try to rebuild one specific clinic in Port Au Prince.
