FC Dallas hosts Haitian national soccer team Friday in free benefit game

From: DFW International Community Alliance on behalf of the Haitian community in North Texas FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Leigh Anne Gullett 469.365.0054; <a href="mailto:lgullett@fcdallas.net">lgullett@fcdallas.net</a>, www.FCDallas.com FC DALLAS HOSTS HAITIAN NATIONAL TEAM FRIDAY FC Dallas collecting donations to aid Haitian squads rebuilding efforts FRISCO, Texas (April 19, 2010) While the Haitian senior national team was training on its home pitch during the Jan. 12 Haiti earthquake, the groups headquarters collapsed killing 30 Fédération Hatienne de Football staff members. FC Dallas will play the Haitian side on Pizza Hut Parks Field 4 at 7 p.m. Friday night. While there is no charge for admission to the friendly, the team will be accepting donations to help Haiti rebuild its federation. The group also is accepting donations online at <a href="http://sanantoniosports.org/haiti.htm">http://sanantoniosports.org/haiti.htm</a> through the San Antonio Sports Foundation, which is financing the Haitian teams stay in Texas. Today, the field that kept the Haitian players safe from harm is home to some of the half-million homeless in Haiti who are living in tents in the national soccer stadium. Last week, the team traveled to San Antonio to begin training for a May 5th game against the Argentine national team. The team is spending two and a half weeks at the T Bar M Resort and Conference Center in New Braunfels and training at the local high school stadium.

The documentary plays from 7:30 9:00 PM, followed immediately by a Q & A session with Producer/Director Tammy Nguyen Lee and several cast in attendance. Operation Babylift: The Lost Children of Vietnam tells the significant yet untold story of the $2 million dollar US initiative that airlifted over 2,500 Vietnamese orphans out of a war-torn country to protect them from the impending threat of the Communist regime. These adoptees grew up facing unique challenges in America, including prejudice overshadowed by a controversial war and cultural identity crisis. Featuring compelling and insightful interviews of the volunteers, parents, and organizations directly involved, the movie takes a contemporary look at Babylift and its relevance to international adoption today. The film was a passionate team effort that took 4 years to produce. Lee said: Operation Babylift was a moving story I had never heard about, and it was a significant part of our history. Although this journey was not my own, I could relate to the essence of what all adoptees crave the need to feel loved, the need to feel understood, the need to know who I am, the need to belong. This project refueled my passion to give a platform to those that had not been represented, to find stories that were important and had been forgotten. I hope to also continue the spirit of humanitarianism and community that Babylift inspires. Tammy Nguyen Lee fled Saigon with her mother more than 30 years ago. WorldFest and provides guests the opportunity to be immersed in the culture of Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East and of course the Americas. Opening the region’s premier international festival will be a flag parade of participating nations. The festival is being hosted by the Town of Addison in partnership with the non-profit organization, DFW International Community Alliance. Addison hosts WORLDFEST with DFW International partnership

<div class="Estilo1"> For Immediate Release: October 25, 2008  For additional information contact: Shiroma Southwest 800-382-3054/972-732-6100 <a href="mailto:pat@shiromasouthwest.com">pat@shiromasouthwest.com</a> DFW International partners TOWN OF ADDISON's NEW EVENT – WORLDFEST, OCTOBER 25, 2008 WORLDFEST is the Town of Addison’s newest public event in spectacular Addison Circle Park.  The festival, Saturday, October 25, is being hosted in partnership with the non-profit DFW International Community Alliance (DFW Int'l) organization. Town of Addison Special Events Administrator Barbara Kovacevich says, “We are excited about the addition of WORLDFEST to Addison’s famed annual schedule of events.  Each Addison event is unique and nationally recognized and WORLDFEST will continue that tradition.  “Annually, more than 350,000 people come not only from Texas, but from throughout the U.S. and the world to participate in the celebrated array of special events including Taste Addison, Kaboom Town®!, Summer Series outdoor concerts, North Texas Jazz Festival, Oktoberfest and Cinema in the Circle,” she continued. For 12 years, DFW Int'l has produced the Dallas International Festival.  DFW Int'l is a network of over 1,600 internationally-focused organizations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex that embodies the cultural and economic vibrancy of the global community. Their Mission is to build mutual understanding and respect by linking diverse international cultural communities. According to Anne Marie Weiss-Armush, DFW Int'l’s President, “Partnering with the Town of Addison will facilitate the involvement of an increasing number of North Texas global cultural representatives in this entertaining and educational event.” At WORLDFEST guests will be immersed in the culture of Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East and of course the Americas as they visit each of five continental pavilions.  While traveling through the pavilions, children can participate in a special passport project that encourages and rewards as they learn about each country represented at the event.  Additionally, festival guests will cheer at the Parade of Nations, dine on cuisine from around the world, play global games like Rugby and Bocce, enjoy the children’s workshops and International passport, shop in the International Marketplace, sip and learn at the International wine tasting tent, and enjoy dance and musical offerings representing our global diversity. Addison packs top restaurant dining at more than 170 restaurants, 22 hotels, nighttime fun, spectacular city sponsored special events, a combination of towering office buildings and upscale shopping, beautifully landscaped residential communities, award winning parks, major corporate headquarters and much more into its mere 4.3 square miles.
